We have been featured on BBC1’s Bargain Hunt show today – or rather our magnificent collection of old penny farthing bicycles have.
Eric Knowles gives an enjoyable guided tour of our Penny Farthing museum and of course, the restaurant and our famous courtyard are also centre stage. The programme is lead by a detailed interview with Glynn Stockdale, founder and curator of the Penny Farthing Museum. Glynn discusses the history of these extraordinary contraptions, his many incredible cycling adventures (on penny farthings) and how he came to set up the collection in Knutsford.
Many of these old bicycles are now valuable collectors items and some can command substantial prices at auction, hence the main interest of the Bargain Hunt show.
It is a very enjoyable watch, many of our regulars will spot familiar items from around the Courtyard Cafe including artworks, books and the many penny farthings in the museum.
Hopefully this will suffice to wet your appetite for our eventual return to something closer to normality. We hope this will be soon but we gather that we may be able to open for alfresco service in March?
In our next blog we will discuss the preparations we are making for this, including our installation of brand new outdoor dinning sets or seating units and once again, how we intend to provide you with the high standards of service and safety you have come to expect from us.
